Moving forward leaving the Luminous Legends event past the horizon, Niantic has yet again greeted Pokemon Go trainers with an exciting new event in the form of Season of Discovery.

Considering the previous oversaturated events with different Pokemon featured every other week, this event marks the change. As the name suggests, the Season of Discovery event features a theme of discovering never new Pokemon that have never appeared before in Pokemon GO and learning new things about the Pokemon that we already known of and love.

The Season of Discovery event is a three month long event and will be running from Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. local time to Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. local time and featuring various Pokemon scattered all across the globe.

It’s a relief how after so long Niantic finally gave trainers a chance to catch these Pokemon considering Regirock and Regice were last featured in Raids more than a year ago.

Pokemon Spawns during Season of Discovery

Niantic has shuffled up the Pokemon spawns in quite big (and really unique) way this time around. The changes in wild spawns now is no longer based upon weekly or bi-weekly events, rather you now get a static spawn system through out the event.

However, here’s a twist this time – The spawns now changed based on the Trainer’s surrounding and environment. This is a far more realistic representation of Pokemon spawn as compared to the current cluttered way of wild spawns.

Environment-exclusive Pokemon

  • In cities, Pokémon such as Alolan Rattata, Magnemite, and Porygon will be appearing more frequently in the wild.
  • In far-off forests, Bellsprout, Doduo, Skorupi, and more will be appearing more frequently in the wild.
  • The mountains are seeing shifts in Pokémon as well, with Rhyhorn, Nosepass, Dwebble, and more appearing more frequently.
  • Magikarp, Marill, Wailmer, and more will be appearing more frequently in the wild near bodies of water.
